Rajesh Khanna performs Mumtaz's jealous husband who begins to doubt her constancy when his greatest buddy Sanjeev Kumar enters their lives. She is unable to persuade Rajesh Khanna that she loves solely him. He leaves her, not realizing that she is pregnant together with his little one. Depressed and confused, Rajesh Khanna turns into a homeless wanderer, whereas Mumtaz remarries to offer a safe residence for her little one. A few years later, the reality dawns on him as he turns up, a damaged man, at his personal daughter's wedding ceremony.
