Within the historic village of Shivapuram, little Ananthan hears a story from his mom, Gayathri (Revathi). She tells him that his household comes from a line of highly effective magicians, and they're answerable for defending nagamanikyam, a jewel on a serpent's head. The jewel, she narrates, lies in a secret place in the home guarded by snakes, together with a tiny snake known as Kunjootan. Years later, obeying the desires of his lifeless mom, Ananthan (Prithviraj Sukumaran) returns to his ancestral village to mild the lamps at Shivakavu, a darkish and mysterious temple of Shiva.
