Laxmi lives a poor life-style in a small village in India alongside along with her husband, Kishtaya, who's a deaf-mute. Each husband and spouse work for the rich landlord. The owner's son, Surya, has to cancel his research and return dwelling to take care of the property, in addition to formalize his marriage to Saroj, the woman he was compelled to get married to when he was very younger. Shortly thereafter Kishtaya is apprehended stealing toddy from the fields, is severely overwhelmed, left mindless, and when he recovers he absconds, leaving Laxmi alone to fend for herself.
