The tragic story set within the late Thirties, simply earlier than famine struck Bengal. It tells of the wedding of a dumpy middle-aged salesman of small items to a fantastic teenager, and the way, after preliminary days of happiness collectively, a sequence of misfortunes strike which slowly embitter the person.
