Shoba T. Mathur works for the Central Authorities in India and her job is to create consciousness towards child-marriage and different social evils that prevail resulting from basic misinterpretation of the Hindu Shastras that demean girls, significantly in Dhabri, a village within the state of Rajasthan. She does reach recruiting a younger housewife, Saanvri, the mom of a younger woman, Kamli, and spouse of rickshaw driver, Sohan. Saanvri goes across the village elevating consciousness, and incurs the wrath of the village elders, principally members of the Gujjar household.
