Experimenting with a non-linear, observational type, director Jain J Abraham’s documentary follows a day within the lifetime of his great-grandfather—a 90-year-old retired farmer from the small city of Pala in Kerala. Regardless of ageing limbs and failing eyesight, the hours are full for Chachan (that means ‘grandpa’), as he tends to his cows, visits church and follows the information and soaps on TV. As Jain data his routine, Chachan displays on the oft-repeated patterns of native and nationwide politics, how the fortunes of males and the rubber crop are intertwined, and the important nature of human beings.
