Dr. Dharmesh (Rajendra Kumar) and Sita (Meena Kumari) are in love, and hope to marry on Dharmesh's return from overseas. When Dharmesh returns, he's devastated to seek out that Sita has married another person. He then decides to dedicate the remainder of his life at a most cancers clinic. Considered one of his sufferers is Ram (Raaj Kumar), who's critically unwell, and must be operated upon. Issues progress effectively, till Dharmesh meets Ram's spouse - none apart from Sita. Dharmesh now has to battle together with his conscience, and his medical ethics to avoid wasting Ram or to let him cross away, in order that he can marry Sita.
