Lately-paroled thief, Jon Value, is compelled to return to his small, wet hometown of Fall Metropolis, Washington at Christmastime. Jon unexpectedly begins to search out pleasure as he meets and grows nearer to a struggling single mom who exhibits him true kindness, and he begins filling the function of a father for her younger daughter.
