Charlene and her teenage son (Quincy) are pressured to relocate to Memphis along with her estranged sister (Gwen). Tensions shortly escalate between the sisters, whereas Quincy befriends the neighborhood hustler (Dawg) and turns into immersed within the metropolis's gritty way of life and the subculture of the road dance known as Memphis Jookin.
