U.S. settled Esha (Esha Deol) is drawn to fellow-student Rahul (Tushar Kapoor). Rahul too is drawn to Esha. Esha returns house to India and tells her dad and mom (Raj Babbar, Nina Kulkarni) about her love for Rahul. The household is happy, and proceeds to finalize the wedding. They accompany Esha to Rahul's home. Rahul's dad and mom (Rajesh Khanna, Smita Jaykar) approve of Esha. However after they ask Rahul, to everybody's shock, he refuses to marry Esha beneath any circumstances.
