Raja Kumar Bahadur alias Gyan Shankar Rai has been a complete abstainer all his life, by no means touching a drop of alcohol, and holding away from ladies and all identified vices all his life. Then sooner or later he sees a younger girl named Saudamani, and immediately falls in love together with her. He finds out about her background, and nearly buys her, and brings her to his palatial dwelling. That is when he takes to ingesting, and wooing her, and renaming her Madhuri, however refrains from marrying her. Years later, he sees one other stunning girl, about half his age, named Sumita, meets together with her dad and mom, pays off their money owed, and marries her within the cut price.
