Main Jasbir Singh Rana (Amitabh Bachchan) trains cadets to develop into officers within the nationwide defence academy. A spoilt brat Virendra Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan) joins the academy. Little does he know the key is a strict disciplinarian who takes a row to straighten him and make him a soldier. Thus begins a warfare between the 2. Within the meantime Virendra falls in love with a stupendous lady NISHA (Sonali Bendre) whose marriage was fastened by his father to a rich contractor's son. However the lady loves Virendra in opposition to her father's will and so begins the struggle between Virendra and the lady's father supported by the contractor and his son with gang. Majorsaab helps Virendra to get his love and to vary Virendra from spoilt brat to a great and courageous soldier.
