The story issues Muthu, a charismatic, well-respected and dependable servant and charioteer of Raja Malayasimman, a rich zamindar. Whereas Muthu and Raja's exploits make them fall in love with the identical lady, an actress and dancer named Ranganayaki, Raja's materal uncle Ambalathar is eager on assuming management of the household's property.
