He finds nothing besides Shanti, a widowed daughter-in-law who has been left to die by her merciless kinfolk. Shaka nurses her again to well being. When her kinfolk return they aren't happy to search out her alive and even much less happy to find that somebody has tried to rob them. Shanti will get the blame and a beating. Shaka saves her from worse, by the hands of brother-in-law, and the pair flee. They arrange house in Shaka's home, a lot to the displeasure of the respectable neighbours who're all too able to assume the worst.
