Kenshin has settled into his new life with Kaoru and his different pals when he's approached with a request from the Meiji authorities. Makoto Shishio, a former murderer like Kenshin, was betrayed, set on hearth and left for lifeless. He survived, and is now in Kyoto, plotting along with his gathered warriors to overthrow the brand new authorities. In opposition to Kaoru's needs, Kenshin reluctantly agrees to go to Kyoto and assist hold his nation from falling again into civil warfare.
