Born in Brooklyn to Palestinian refugee dad and mom, Soraya (Suheir Hammad) decides to journey to the nation of her ancestry when she discovers that her grandfather's financial savings have been frozen in a Jaffa checking account since his 1948 exile. Nevertheless, she quickly finds that her easy plan is a sophisticated endeavor — one which takes her farther from her consolation zone than she'd imagined.
