Within the not-too-distant future, an all-seeing surveillance state conducts “dream audits” to gather taxes on the unconscious lives of the populace. Gentle-mannered authorities agent James Preble travels to a distant farmhouse to audit the goals of Arabella “Bella” Isadora, an eccentric, ageing artist. Getting into Bella’s huge VHS archive, which accommodates a lifetime of goals, Preble stumbles upon a secret that provides him an opportunity at love—and hope for escape.
