Our story has three married {couples}: One couple, who're fortunately married, are Tripathi (Sanjeev Kumar) and his spouse Mary; the second couple are Geeta (Shabana Azmi) and Vinod (Vinod Mehra), who dwell in Vinod's mother's home. Their's is an sad marriage with Vinod spending a variety of time with Leena (Prema Narayan), and frequenting late and all-night events. His spouse patiently awaits his return each evening; And the third couple is that of Shobha (Moushumi Chatterjee) and Vicky Kapoor (Jeetendra), their's is a seemingly "completely happy" marriage, with Shobha being a really jealous and possessive lady.
