When a rich patriarch falls unwell on his seventieth birthday, three of his sons rush in from Calcutta, resulting in a reunion stuffed with painful ironies and lingering disillusionment. Because the household—together with an addled fourth son who lives with the outdated man—watches and waits, the static event brings out simmering tensions of their household dynamics, from the daddy’s ethical rectitude to the enterprise ambition of two sons and the withdrawal of their siblings.
