Thakur Ranjit Singh buys the enslaved Kajal's freedom and offers her the standing of a daughter-in-law... a lot to the disgust of his uncle, Jasbir. When the sleazy Shakal turns up and arranges a secret assembly with Kajal, Ranjit believes that he has caught his beloved being untrue. He exacts a fearful retribution. Obligingly, Jasbir destroys the proof. Ranjit finds himself being affected by the stressed spirit of Kajal in addition to a suspicious policeman. Looking for respite in Bombay, he's shocked to see Kajal's doppelganger, a nurse known as Kiran. Unnerved, he brings Kiran house with him and finds himself falling in love once more. The thriller deepens when Kajal's vengeful spirit murders the usurper, sending Ranjit over the sting and into an asylum.
